John McCormick for Lafayette City Council

Elect John McCormick for Lafayette City Council

Leadership. Trust. Experience.

Thank you very much for a successful campaign and election result! I look forward to serving for the next four years with fellow Council Members Carl Anduri and Gina Dawson. Our community is truly special and though there will be challenges ahead, I am confident Lafayette will continue to thrive and be a welcoming community for everyone. With the successful passage of Measure H (the first city-sponsored measure passed in almost 25 years!), our finances have a stable foundation.

As always, feel free to stop by Lamorinda Music to chat and let me know what you love about Lafayette and what we could do better.

Hi Everyone!

My name is John McCormick. My wife, Colleen, and I have proudly called Lafayette home for over thirty years. We raised our family here and own Lamorinda Music in downtown Lafayette. It is my honor to serve on the Lafayette City Council currently, and I am now running for a new four-year term.

Lafayette is a truly special place. Our community boasts beautiful hillsides, wonderful neighborhoods, excellent shopping and dining options, and outstanding schools. I am dedicated to preserving and enhancing the qualities that make Lafayette a place we are all proud to call our hometown.

New! Did you know that political lawn signs are not recyclable and, if not repurposed, would go to landfill? I worked with RecycleSmart to design a program to ensure that all lawn signs in Lafayette, Orinda, Moraga, Danville, and Walnut Creek can be properly recycled in as easy a manner as possible. See the details here.

I invite you to click and watch the video below (it’s only 4 minutes), where I share my background and discuss how we can make Lafayette grow and prosper together.

New! Candidates' Night

Thank you to the Lafayette Homeowners Council (LHC) for hosting "Candidates' Night" where all the City Council candidates could present our positions and take questions from LHC and the public.

The entire event went over 2.5 hours, but I'm happy to share my opening statement (just 5 minutes) here:

You can see my 2-minute answer to the question about how we improve traffic and the importance of passing Measure H in November. If we have to cut $2M from the city budget, we will be hard-pressed to introduce any new solutions, no matter who is on the Council:

Unique Experience

As a small business owner in downtown Lafayette, a parent of children who attended Lafayette schools, and a long-time resident, I bring a unique perspective to the City Council. My experience includes serving as Past President and current member of the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, being a member of the Park Theater Trust Board of Directors, participating in various city and school commissions, and twenty years of volunteering with LASF/LPIE. I have a long-term commitment to our town.

We have to Work Together

Our city faces significant issues, including budget constraints, affordable housing, the need for more parks and open spaces, and fire safety concerns. I will use my experience to address these challenges and ensure Lafayette remains a great place for you and your family to live. I will continue to work to foster strong cooperation between the City Council, city staff, community members, and neighboring towns and cities. This requires doing my homework, listening to all perspectives, and making decisions that benefit our long-term future.
